Michael Tanner I was recently encouraged to listen to the 2nd EP by the artist.
I really like it..reminds me of old Victorian London in it's imagery.
musically its similar to The Auteurs or early David Bowie/Syd Barrett.

Lower portcullis, pull up the drawbridge That's the English way Ignore the facts, distrust the new. It's just the English way It's back to basics for us boys Closing our ears to the disquieting noise To the forecastle, sandbanks ahead Drowning in money; cappuccino foam Just like when roofer ruled Drowning in money; cappuccino foam It's back to basics for us boys Closing our ears to the disquieting noise Merry England's what they want Looking on a Friday, it's what we've got Be careful what you're wishing for The boats won't save you from the rising tides It's back to basics for us boys Closing our ears to the disquieting noise

He's feeling uptight Hiding his eyes from the light Plays with the watchstrap in his hand Waits for the buzz and its command In the crowd he's on his own It's his city not his home Red bricks line the red old streets Via Saragossa up the hill Cycling under scorching heat Green-jumpered girl at the top of the hill Thoughts of Valentino, They occupy his mind A life spent speeding And so out of time He's pounding the street Moving to the beat Of the song on repeat in his head See's the world in green and white and red In the crowd not on his own The thoughts of her they guide him home through the porticoed streets Wind in his hair, down the hill Powered by pumping of his feet Grunge Girardengo with an iron will Thoughts of Valentino, They occupy his mind A life spent speeding And so out of time Daydreams of Aidi Speak his thoughts And in his head Prayers for the dead

You've signed your name The Soul Banker's opened his account He wears the winter as a coat The wind is his scarf You've signed your name He's withdrawing You're withdrawing Feeling the chill The bitterest pill You've signed your name The Soul Banker's opened his account Across the grey Tomorrow and Today Not like yesterday The Soul Banker's opened his account

You say tomorrow belongs to you and that there's nothing we can do Maybe what your saying is true But realise we'll be fighting too International conspiracy All against you and me Tomorrow the world is ours Vienna and Paris just a matter of hours You've got both guns and men You say it's not if but when In the beer halls and drinking dens You plot and plan and then you say International conspiracy All against you and me Tomorrow the world is ours Vienna and Paris just a matter of hours You speak from your platform Surrounded by thugs in uniform Versailles you claim will be torn So full of rage and scorn International conspiracy All against you and me Tomorrow the world is ours Vienna and Paris just a matter of hours

about

This is my second release and I am really pleased with it.
Massive thank you to Tim, who has patiently listened as I try to explain what I am trying to do and why the normal rules for mixing records might not work again and again.

The art work was inspired by being locked down in my flat. All of the colours were extreme close ups of objects from the house. They reminded me a little of Rothko, so they were then arranged in order to create a narrative of sorts. The same photographs are used as cover art for the different songs.
