about

This song was an attempt to write a film noir but in song form. The singer being the protagonist.
The verse is like a voice over as our protagonist drives. The second part him languishing and singing for the world to hear.

lyrics

Caught in this spiderweb
Black and white flashes by
Shadows as long as day
In my film noir

I, I could have been the star
Should have been so far
So far away from here.

Flicking through photographs
Sepia images
Greyed and then fade away
In my film noir

Speak to the man upstairs
Tells me it's time to run
Drive down to little farm
In my black car

I, I could have been the star
Should have been so far
So far away from here.

Lit by your cigarette
Glaring back in the dark
Knowing just what to say
You sell your side

Caught in this spiderweb
Black and white flashes by
Shadows as long as day
In my film noir

I, I could have been the star
Should have been so far
So far away from here.
